GHF Revolving Fund Offers Historic 1860 House (No Ike Damage) for Sale

This center-hall cottage was constructed around 1860 at the corner of 16th Street and Avenue K in Galveston. Shortly after 1900, the house was moved to the adjoining lot and an out building was attached to create a T-shaped back gallery. The house was purchased by the Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) with its Revolving Fund, after a small fire did minor damage in February 2008.

The house has received a new 30-year composition shingle roof, new decking and rails on the porches and new exterior paint. The interior is a clean slate for the new owner to personalize. The house sits on a 42'-10" x 120' lot just outside the East End National Historic Landmark District and the Lost Bayou (local) historic district. Other features of the house are a claw-foot tub, decorative cast iron sink, slate mantle and historic clay sidewalk pavers. http://www.historicproperties.com/detail.asp?detail_key=scghf005
