Postoffice Street’s New Café Madrid to Hold Grand Opening Benefit for Galveston Historical Foundation, August 18, 2007
Doug Vu, proprietor of Galveston’s newest hotspot Café Madrid, is celebrating the restaurant/bar’s grand opening with a fundraiser benefiting Galveston Historical Foundation’s (GHF) educational programs.

The GHF benefit will be held at Café Madrid on Saturday, August 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Party guests will enjoy live jazz, cash bar and a sumptuous tapas buffet. Tapas is the name given to a wide variety of Spanish influenced appetizers--Café Madrid’s specialty.
Located at 2111 Postoffice, in the heart of the Postoffice Street Arts and Entertainment District, Café Madrid is open Wednesday and Thursday from 5 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Proceeds from this lively evening will benefit the varied educational programs of GHF including marine exploration tours aboard the Seagull II, the annual Summer Discovery Day Camp for children and GHF’s Preservation Resource Center demonstration classes that focus on do-it-yourself home restoration projects.
Cost is $30. Reservations are required and can be made by calling GHF Headquarters at 409/765-7834.
