Mystic Seaport Museum Shipyard Director to Speak at Texas Seaport Museum November 7 about Use of Ike-Killed Galveston Oaks in Charles W. Morgan Ship Restoration

Quentin Snediker, shipyard director at the Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, Connecticut, will be in Galveston Saturday to give a public presentation about how Ike-killed oaks are being used by his institution in the restoration of the historic ship, the Charles W. Morgan. The vessel, launched in 1841, is said to be the last wooden whaling ship in the world.

Snediker will offer a free public presentation about the ship’s restoration and how Galveston’s felled oaks are being used in its accomplishment at the Texas Seaport Museum at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 7. The Texas Seaport Museum is located at Pier 22, Harborside Drive and 22nd Street in Galveston. For more information, call the museum at 409-763-1877.
