Friday Handbell Concerts Cancelled, Dickens Feast Moved, Otherwise, Dickens on The Strand Weekend Will Go on as Planned
Galveston Historical Foundation announced today that two of its Dickens festival weekend special events have had changes in plans because of the weather.
The Dickens Handbell Concerts scheduled for tonight at 5:30, 7 and 8:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church Museum, 2202 Avenue K, have been cancelled. The choirs declined to travel to Galveston because of the weather. All ticket holders will be issued full refunds.

The Traditional Dickens Feast scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. is being moved from Garten Verein, 2704 Avenue in Galveston to the ballroom at Ashton Villa, 2328 Broadway, because of a problem with the heating system at Garten Verein. All ticket holders are being contacted by phone about this change and Galveston Historical Foundation personnel will be on duty at Garten Verein all evening to notify any guests who show up there anyway about the change in venue.
Otherwise, all Dickens on The Strand festival plans remain the same. Festival times are 10 to 7 Saturday and 10 to 6 Sunday. For complete details or to buy tickets online, go to www.dickensonthestrand.org.
