Green Revival Certification Program

Galveston Historical Foundation Launches Green Revival Certification Program

Galveston Historical Foundation is offering free professional guidance for islanders interested in making their historic buildings more energy efficient. Through the Green Revival Certification Program, homeowners are provided with a step-by-step guide created specifically for their project including a checklist, information on new green building materials and products, and contacts for local businesses and contractors. A LEED-accredited GHF staff member is also available to make site visits and answer questions. GHF is waving enrollment fees for the first twenty registered projects.

The certification program follows the success of the LEED-Platinum Green Revival House at 3101 Avenue Q. Damaged during Hurricane Ike, the house moved and rehabilitated with help from 1772 Foundation and the Partners in the Field program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The project received awards from the City of Galveston and Preservation Texas and was featured in Preservation Magazine, Old House Journal, Texas Architect, and Houston House and Home.

For more information or to enroll in the program, please contact Matthew Pelz and matthew.pelz@galvestonhistory.org or 409.765.3423.
