Green Revival Show House Insulation Options to be Featured this Weekend
Galveston Historical Foundation’s Green Revival Showhouse will be open to the public again this weekend Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31 from noon to four, free of charge. From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Matthew Pelz, project coordinator from Galveston Historical Foundation, will be on hand to answer questions about the decision-making process regarding insulation options, explaining the benefits and drawbacks of each in historic buildings.

The Green Revival Show House, which opened to the public October 1, will continue to be open, free of charge, on weekends in October and November from noon to 4 p.m.
Located at 3101 Avenue Q in Galveston's Kempner Park neighborhood, the 1000-square-foot house was severely damaged by Hurricane Ike in 2008 and saved from demolition by GHFan organization that has saved hundreds of Galveston's historic homes over the decades. Seeing a timely opportunity to show environmentally minded homeowners how to undertake a green restoration, GHF embarked on a project whose goal was to produce the first showhouse in the country that would demonstrate how a historic home can be retrofitted for peak environmental performance without losing its historic integrity.
