History On Tap To Feature Discussions On Prohibition In Galveston And Rum Distillation At The 1892 Bishop’s Palace

The 1920’s return to the 1892 Bishop’s Palace in Galveston, TX on October 8, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. As part of its ongoing History on Tap series, Galveston Historical Foundation will welcome Don Q Rum for a discussion on Prohibition in Galveston and the process by which rum is distilled. Tickets are $20 per person and available online or by calling 409-765-7834.

“Galveston’s history is certainly full of intrigue and mystery, but its role as a “haven city” during the Prohibition Era ranks among the most interesting. Bishop’s Palace is an exceptional place to learn about that period in Galveston’s history and have fun doing it,” says Dwayne Jones, executive director of Galveston Historical Foundation. “History on Tap makes learning about local history “refreshing” in all senses of that word. We hope our members and supporters come out for this unique learning experience.”

History on Tap is an ongoing series of events that allows participants to interact with various GHF properties outside of the standard tour environment. Additionally, each event is paired with a different distillery or brewery that directly ties into the event’s discussion. Joining GHF at Bishop’s Palace will be DonQ Rum.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Galveston Historical Foundation for such a wonderful event. GHF has a long proven track-record of serving the community and they share in our passion and commitment to heritage and pride, which is at the foundation of DonQ and the Serrallés family tradition since 1865.” says John Eason, VP National Sales Manager at Serrallés USA.

Two complimentary drinks will be provided with each ticket with the availability to purchase additional during the event.
