Partners for Sacred Places Offers Grants to Galveston Congregations: Local Meeting to be Held At St. Joseph’s Church Monday Nov. 17
Fort Worth, Texas Representatives of Partners for Sacred Places Texas Regional Office will hold a meeting for leaders of Galveston’s older and historic congregations damaged in Hurricane Ike on Monday evening, November 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, a property of the Galveston Historical Foundation at 2202 Avenue K. Ministers and lay leaders are invited to attend.

Partners for Sacred Places is offering $5,000. seed grants for historic building assessments and other activities to help Galveston congregations renovate and restore their buildings. At Monday’s meeting, PSP staff will outline grant criteria and explain the grant application process to attendees.
Founded in Philadelphia in 1989, Partners for Sacred Places is the only national, non-sectarian, non-profit organization dedicated to the sound stewardship and active community use of America’s older religious properties. Partners provides assistance to the people who care for sacred places while promoting a new understanding of how these places sustain communities. The Texas Regional Office, established in 2006, provides Partners’ information, education and training, and funding to congregations in North Texas and throughout the state.
