Free Drywall to Low-to-Moderate Income Island Homeowners

Galveston Historical Foundation and KWAL Paint Offer Free Drywall to Low-to-Moderate Income Island Homeowners

On Monday, October 13, KWAL Paint delivered two truckloads of drywall to Galveston Historical Foundation's Architectural Salvage Warehouse. The drywall is to be given away this week to low-to-moderate income island residents to repair their hurricane-damaged homes. Each family who participates in the drywall program must provide their own pick-up and installation of the drywall. Each family is limited to 20 sheets each to rebuild their homes. Those who come the the Salvage Warehouse to pick up drywall must present photo identification. The drywall is to be used only in owner-occupied homes. No appointment is necessary. Those interested may simply walk in to the Salvage Warehouse to pick up their 20 sheets of drywall. For more information, call 409-765-7834.

Assistance in providing this service to the community was offered by the Harris and Eliza Kempner Fund.

Barbara Sasser of the Harris and Eliza Kempner Fund and Sam Navarro of KWAL Paint pose with one of the first families to receive drywall from the new program, Mr. and Mrs. Salinas.
