Tickets Now Available Online for “Going Green” Galveston Historic Homes Tour
(GALVESTON, TX) - Tickets are now available online for "Going Green: What's Old is New Again," the 2010 Galveston Historic Homes Tour, held during the first two weekends in May. Tickets are $25 each at www.galvestonhistory.org.
The Historic Homes Tour is scheduled Saturdays, May 1 and 8, and Sundays, May 2 and 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The tour includes 10 houses, six of which survived the Great Storm that struck Galveston in 1900. This year’s tour highlights a special “Green Revival House,” a partnership project with the National Trust for Historic Preservation that showcases environmentally sensitive restoration techniques.
As visitors make the rounds of the rest of the houses on tour, they will learn about “historic green architecture,” features such as floor-to-ceiling windows, transoms above doors and rain-catching cisterns that helped make island life more comfortable before the luxuries of electricity, natural gas and municipal water systems were widespread.
Tickets are $25 per person during tour weekends. Numerous separately ticketed special events are also being held in conjunction with the Galveston Historic Homes Tour. These include the First Impression Preview Evening Tour, Lemonade Lunches at Custom House, Art Signings by Official Homes Tour Artist Eugene Aubrey, Basement to Attic Behind the Scenes Tours of Bishop’s Palace, Bike through History, and Sally Wallace Preservation Awards. Tickets for all special events are available online at www.galvestonhistory.org.
