GALVESTON HISTORICAL FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES THE THIRD ANNUAL GALVESTON REVIVAL RACE, PRESENTED BY MOSTYN LAW FIRM

Saturday, September 10, 2011
Start Time 10K 7:00 p.m.
Start Time 5K 7:15 p.m.

A run/walk through Galveston Island’s most COLORFUL neighborhoods with MANY NEW FEATURES!

Join the Mostyn Law Firm and the Galveston Historical Foundation for the 3rd annual Galveston Revival Race, a 5K and 10K EVENING run/walk through Galveston’s scenic East End Historic District! This NEW USA TRACK AND FIELD CERTIFIED route will highlight the island’s beloved tree sculptures, carved from century old trees destroyed by Hurricane Ike, along with monuments and one of a kind architecture. Beginning and ending at the Mardi Gras arch, this year’s race will feature NEW RACE MANAGEMENT and a fun-filled party following the race at Saengerfest Park, with entertainment including THE SILVERADO BAND, food and drink for the entire family.

2011 Race Information

Marking the anniversary of Hurricane Ike, Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) invites you to support the third annual run/walk through Galveston’s most historic neighborhoods and districts as you help the island recover from the effects of one of the worst natural disasters since the Great Storm of 1900. Initiated two years ago to bring attention to Galveston’s post Hurricane Ike recovery, with particular focus on our historic neighborhoods, the Revival race made a monumental debut in 2009 with over 1000 registered participants. With waning media coverage following Hurricane Ike, we again need to attract attention to our architectural heritage. As the steward of many historic house museums and vessels, including the magnificent 1892 Bishop’s Palace and the 1877 ELISSA, Texas’ Official Tall Ship, GHF is at the core of the Island’s revival. This noteworthy fundraiser enables the foundation to continue in its mission to preserve and revitalize the architectural, cultural and maritime heritage of Galveston Island.
