KWAL Paint in Galveston Offers Additional Discount to GHF Members

KWAL Paint Company has announced that members of the Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) will receive an additional 10 percent discount on all products sold at its Galveston store through the end of July 2008. Added to the regular 30 percent discount the company gives GHF members at its stores nationwide, GHF members here can save 40 percent on the cost of their spring makeovers.

KWAL Paint also donated the exterior paint for the transformation of GHF’s 1839 Samuel May Williams House from a traditional house museum to a comfortable single-family residence. The project was undertaken as a community service project of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Texas Gulf Coat Chapter. Twelve design teams each chose a room or area in which to apply their skills. The result will be open to the public as the ASID Spring Designer Showhouse during the first four weekends in May, and on Memorial Day.

Helping GHF with another effort, KWAL Paint donates its product to GHF’s Paint Pals program, which assembles volunteers to paint in a single day a one-story historic house owned and occupied by a low-income or disabled Galvestonian.

“KWAL has been a very valuable corporate partner with GHF,” said Dwayne Jones, GHF executive director. “Their long-standing discount offer has been a powerful incentive to join the foundation, and during this period it will be even more so.

“GHF has always been a member-driven organization, and in fact we’re the second-largest local historic preservation outfit in the country. We’re very grateful for this kind of assistance in remaining strong.”

The first two weekends in May are GHF’s annual Galveston Historic Homes Tour, and discount package tickets are available that combine the ASID Spring Designer Showhouse with a ticket to the ten private historic homes on the tour.
