Stewardship Day to be held at Bishop's Palace Saturday, January 12: GHF Members Only
Galveston Historical Foundation members are invited to help clean and polish the 1892 Bishop's Palace this Saturday, January 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cleaning supplies and staff will be on hand to help dust, polish silver, clean windows, etc. Memberships will be available at the door. Call 409-762-2475 with questions.

GHF assumed management of the Bishop's Palace on December 17, 2007. Built of stone and steel for the railroad magnate Walter Gresham and his family, this famous house was designed by Nicholas Clayton, Galveston’s premier Victorian-era architect. The Bishop’s Palace is recognized as one of America’s finest examples of Victorian exuberance and Gilded-Age extravagance. It has been operated as a house museum since 1963, and is the Island’s most popular historic attraction. GHF has entered into a partnership with the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese to raise the funds for the restoration of this majestic structure. Foundation members are invited to join in this new effort on Saturday, when GHF's first deep cleaning of the Bishop's Palace will begin.
