Join the Texas Seaport Museum this March for our Spring Break workshop series! We will be setting sails aboard ELISSA, putting ships in bottles and looking out for a lighthouse! Classes are free with general admission to the Texas Seaport Museum and held dockside unless otherwise noted. Classes are limited to 20 people and begin at 2 p.m and last approximately one hour at most.

SET A SAIL!
Tuesday, 3/13

Ever wonder what life was like for a sailor in the 19th century? Join us in setting a sail on the 1877 Iron Barque Elissa! Learn the language of seafaring, how to work together as a group and what it took to make it out on the high seas!

(weather permitting)

JELLYFISH EXPLORATION
Wednesday, 3/14

Join us as we learn about this delicate and important creature of the sea. While sometimes feared for its unpleasant (and sometimes deadly) touch, these animals are important to the local ecosystem. Create your own jellyfish to take home!

SHIPS FIGUREHEADS
Thursday, 3/15

A tall ship is not complete without its own figurehead to guard over the waves. Come learn about the importance of the figurehead in history and lore and make your own out of clay!

Hello, I’m interested in seeing if you have a list of names of the immigrants that entered Texas through Galveston, looking for the last names Evans & Sutton, they would have come from Wales and Ireland area, think you for your assistance.
    Sincerely: Randy

Is there nothing going on in between March-December of 2017?

I’m looking for attractions to take my 11 year old nephew to when he visits me on the island this month. He told me this was one of the things he was most interested in doing, but the only dates listed above are for March, and it doesn’t list a year, so either the page is severely outdated, or the only attractions won’t happen until March of 2018?

    Thank you.

Did the Elissa return early from the Tall Ship Challenge destinations? I saw the Elissa’s masts while revisiting the Strand on April 29. Thank You.
