Miss Bettie Brown, Galveston's Daring Diva

33rd Annual Galveston Historic Homes Tour
Miss Bettie Brown, Galveston's Daring Diva
An Elegant Evening of Drama,
Period Music and Fine Dining

Friday, May 11, 2007, 7 to 10 p.m.
Ashton Villa, 2328 Broadway

This evening event will combine a dramatic presentation by actress Mary Margaret Buss with music of the 19th century performed by acclaimed chamber pianist Felicity Coltman. The ballroom at Ashton Villa, the oldest mansion on Broadway, will be the setting. Buss’s performance will explore the life of Bettie Brown, the daughter of James Moreau Brown, who built Ashton Villa in 1859. She was a fiercely independent woman for her era, never marrying, traveling widely, entertaining lavishly, and filling Ashton Villa with art she painted herself. A sumptuous dinner will accompany the evening’s entertainment.

Tickets are $75 per person.
Reservations are required and are non-refundable.
