In the 20th century, adapting historic properties into museums was the ideal way of preserving history but those tides are turning. Preservationists, in an effort to counter changing patterns of tourism and lifestyles, are looking at other ways to preserve America’s architectural heritage.

This year’s ASID Spring Designer Showhouse, the 1839 Samuel May Williams house is an example of GHF’s call to action on this very topic. Enjoy lunch at the historic Tremont House while learning from the designers themselves about the process of transforming a traditional “house” museum into a single-family dwelling for modern living. Guests will then be shuttled by coach for a private tour of the Showhouse.
