SUMMARY:Old 97's - Strand Summer Series
DESCRIPTION:Galveston Historical Foundation invites you to enjoy historic downtown Galveston for the 2026 Strand Summer Series! These movie and music nights are located in The Strand’s principal parks and feature free-to-the-public concerts and movies from April through September. Performances are free to the public with on-site beer and wine\, select vendors\, and a reserved VIP area with reserved seating\, complimentary drinks\, meet and greets\, and more. \nABOUT OLD 97’S | Old 97’s are a pioneering alt-country band whose smart\, literate songwriting and high-octane live shows helped define the genre’s rise in the 1990s. Formed in Dallas\, the band—led by charismatic frontman Rhett Miller—blends rootsy country\, punk energy\, and power-pop melodies into songs that balance wit\, romance\, and emotional candor. Breakthrough albums like Too Far to Care and Fight Songs established their reputation for sharp storytelling and melodic punch\, while later releases continued to evolve their sound without losing urgency or heart. Renowned for their relentless touring and electric stage presence\, Old 97’s remain one of the most enduring and influential bands to emerge from the American roots-rock movement.

SUMMARY:David Ramirez Live at the 1859 St. Joseph's Church
DESCRIPTION:David Ramirez returned to music on his own terms. After stepping away in the wake of a long relationship and choosing to process his grief privately rather than turn it into a heartbreak record\, the Austin-based singer-songwriter rediscovered his creative center. With six full-length albums\, three EPs\, numerous collaborations\, and a supergroup project (Glorietta) behind him\, Ramirez set aside career expectations to focus purely on the joy of making music.\n\nThe result is All the Not So Gentle Reminders\, a 12-song\, dreamlike album that leans into atmosphere\, expansive arrangements\, and the emotional pull of sound itself. Written during a secluded retreat in Waverly\, Alabama\, and recorded at Spectra Studios near Austin with co-producer Christopher Boosahda and a close-knit group of collaborators\, the record explores memory\, dreams\, fleeting love\, and hope. Lush and ambitious\, it reflects Ramirez’s renewed commitment to authenticity—embracing music not as a means to an end\, but as an end in itself.
