Take to the festival grounds before we open to the general public with our costumed fun-run, walk, stroll, what-have-you! The Dickens Dash allows for entry into the festival grounds at 10 a.m., special entertainment on the Hendley Green stage, a complimentary drink, souvenir, medal, and more. Please note: this is not a timed race. The dash route is .5 miles long and loops through the downtown historic district. Costumes are required and prizes will be given for best costume, best group, and more.
About The Strand National Historic Landmark District
The Strand Historic District is a National Historic Landmark District of mainly Victorian-era buildings. The area is a major tourist attraction for the island and is widely considered the island’s shopping and entertainment center. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976 for its unparalleled collection of commercial Victorian architecture in Texas, and its role as the state’s major port in the 19th century.

Pets and ice chests are not allowed. Scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, Segways, and other recreational “wheels” are forbidden. Guests bringing in costume weapons and props must have them secured will be asked to go through additional screening.
