The Dickens Soiree : Dickens on The Strand

KICK-OFF DICKENS ON THE STRAND IN STYLE AT THE 1892 BISHOP’S PALACE

Featuring specialty acts, award-winning performers and a carefully curated food and drink menu, this kickoff to the annual festival is not to be missed! Held at the breathtaking 1892 Bishop’s Palace on Friday, December 6 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm, attendees will enjoy live music, food and wine, a special aerial acrobatics performance, and appearances by special guests. Tickets are $80 per person and reservations are required.

OLIVER DICKENS

‘Ollie’ is a great-great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens and lives in London. He is a British actor and is the latest in a long line of descendants to participate in the festival.

SPECIAL APPEARANCE

It’s not a proper evening unless royalty joins. Join in celebration as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert make their arrival at The Dickens Soiree.

Cirque La Vie

CIRQUE LA VIE

Cirque La Vie is a contemporary circus arts company in Houston Texas. They tell stories of artists in their real moments, reaching out to remind us all to enjoy the journey, not the arrival.

THOMAS WOOD

Thomas makes his living as a showman and juggler in the 21st Century. He has spent the last 20 years working on perfecting a rather whimsical art form to one of the festival’s can’t-miss acts!

GINGER WHIMSY

See it for yourself as the Ginger Whimsy transforms herself into some of the most delightful human statues you will ever see, and immerses guests into unforgettable experiences!

ABOUT THE 1892 BISHOP’S PALACE

1892 Bishop's PalaceThe 1892 Bishop’s Palace (a.k.a. Gresham House) is a contributing building in the East End Historic District, a National Historic Landmark. The house is listed in the National Register of Historic Places at the national level of significance in the area of architecture. Architectural historians list the Bishop’s Palace as one of the most significant of Victorian residences in the country.

PLEASE NOTE: Tickets are non-refundable. The festival is open rain or shine. GHF is not responsible for independent transactions between visitors and vendors. We are committed to making Dickens on The Strand special needs accessible. If we can assist with arrangements, please contact us at 409-765-7834 in advance of your visit.

Pets and ice chests are not allowed. Scooters, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, Segways and other recreational “wheels” are forbidden. Guests bringing in costume weapons and props must have them secured will be asked to go through additional screening.
