The parade of sail at “Tall Ships Galveston” will be the most exciting photographic event of the year for Galveston Island!

Hi Robert, I teach at Ball High and enjoy amateur photography. I am taking off the 5th and 6th and hoping to capture some great pics. I am planning on using a Canon EOS 7D Mark II and a 70-200mm F4L & 300mm F4L IS lenses. Do you think these will do the trick… if I do my part : ) Thanks for any thoughts, Larry Burroughs

Are tickets required to get onto beach to view Parade of Sail on Thursday. If so, where do I purchase ticket? Also, what is the link for parking options and costs. Thank you.

    • Will Wright

Parade of Sail is not a ticketed event. Parking fees could be applicable depending on where you are viewing but that would be all.

  3. Bill Jenko

I am planning to bring my boat, an old Cheoy Lee 38 sloop, down to view the parade. Are there any special regulations of safe distance to maintain fron the tall ships, or restrictions that apply?

  4. Joan

I have purchased tickets for the Oliver Perry Parade of Tall Ships event Apr 5th. Does that ticket get me into the event grounds or do I have to purchase an event ticket? I also would like to know what food options might be available on the ship since we will be on it all day.

    • Will Wright

Joan, A welcome email will be coming to you this week. Oliver Hazard Perry is not providing food, but you are welcome to bring lunch, snacks, etc. You do not need festival admission for the parade of sail trips.

  5. Sharon Leigh

Will I be able to view the parade from my balcony of the Palisade Palms Condo on the beach side?

  6. Holman King

Seeking for Parade of Sail one ticket aboard When & If, or two or three tickets aboard any other ship.

    • Will Wright

Mike – that will depend on conditions and weather at the time of sail. They will be as close to shore as possible, likely 2 miles out.

  7. Joyce Gilliam

Will, if tickets are not required to view the parade, to what does this refer? “Tickets are non-refundable.”

    • Will Wright

Hi Joyce! The parade is on the Seawall on Thursday which isn’t in a ticketed area. The festival that runs Fri-Sun is in the perimitered site at Pier 21 and does require admission tickets to enter. Those are non-refundable tickets.
