Although he was born and raised on Galveston Island Richard currently resides in Austin, Texas. There he works as a collections manager for the Preservation Board, Texas State, assisting the Texas Capitol Curator with the care and handling of the state capitol’s collection of historic furnishings and artwork. Richard received a BA in American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in Museum Studies from George Washington University in Washington DC.
Incorporated in 1954, Galveston Historical Foundation is one of the nation's largest local preservation organizations. Over the last 50 years, the foundation has expanded its mission to encompass community redevelopment, public education, historic preservation advocacy, maritime preservation and stewardship of historic properties.
