Galveston Historical Foundation and The Tremont House Renew Strategic Partnership

LONGSTANDING COLLABORATION STRENGTHENS HERITAGE TOURISM AND SIGNATURE ISLAND EVENTS

Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) announces the renewal of its strategic partnership with The Tremont House, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing heritage tourism and sustaining the island’s most celebrated cultural events.

In 2026, many of GHF’s online ticketing options will include the ability to make it a weekend with a stay at The Tremont House. These exclusive packages are a great way to experience Galveston’s history and save on lodging and events. The renewed agreement ensures continued collaboration and long-term support for cornerstone initiatives, including the Galveston Historic Homes Tour, Dickens on The Strand, Galveston Island Revue Weekend, and other year-round programs that preserve and interpret Galveston’s architectural and cultural legacy.

“Heritage tourism is central to Galveston’s identity and economic vitality,” said Dwayne Jones, Galveston Historical Foundation’s Executive Director. “The Tremont House embodies the spirit of historic preservation and hospitality that defines our island. Renewing this partnership ensures that our signature events and programs remain strong, accessible, and impactful for years to come.”

For decades, The Tremont House has served not only as a landmark hotel in the heart of the Strand Historic District, but also as a vital partner in welcoming visitors who come to experience Galveston’s historic character. Through this renewed partnership, The Tremont House will continue to play a key role in hosting event participants, promoting heritage-focused travel, and elevating GHF’s visibility.

“Our partnership with the Galveston Historical Foundation is one we truly value,” shares Mitchell Willingham, Director of Sales & Marketing. “We’re excited to keep working together and growing that collaboration moving forward.”

As Galveston Historical Foundation advances long-term preservation initiatives, including stewardship of historic properties, educational outreach, and community revitalization, sustained corporate partnerships remain essential. The Tremont House’s ongoing commitment reflects a shared belief that preserving Galveston’s past is inseparable from shaping its future.

ABOUT GALVESTON HISTORICAL FOUNDATION

Galveston Historical Foundation (GHF) was formed as the Galveston Historical Society in 1871 and merged with a new organization formed in 1954 as a non-profit entity devoted to historic preservation and history in Galveston County. Over the last seventy years, GHF has expanded its mission to encompass community redevelopment, historic preservation advocacy, maritime preservation, museum development, and heritage tourism. GHF embraces a broader vision of history and architecture that encompasses advancements in environmental and natural sciences and their intersection with historic buildings and coastal life, and continues to lead on local, state, and national levels with research-driven programs that build awareness of preservation’s role in cultural identity and stewardship across generations.
