Before their departure from a Galveston reprovisio Before their departure from a Galveston reprovisioning stay, officers from the HMS GLADAN took a tour of the 1877 ELISSA and presented staff with their ship's plaque. GLADAN is a training vessel for the Swedish Navy and was built in 1946-1947. We will see the ship again as we make our way through this year's Sail 250 ports and appreciate any chance we have to connect with others in the maritime world.

One of last year's crowd favorite properties, the One of last year's crowd favorite properties, the 1886 Mollie Walters House, returns for this year's tour! Take a sneak peek at the work that's gone into this amazing home in preparation for this year.

Featured as a restoration in progress and now showcased as a completed project, this two-story, fifteen-room bordello was built in 1886 by madam Mollie Walters. The house is one of the last remnants of Galveston’s infamous red-light district, once known as “The Line” during the island’s “Open City” days. Located in Galveston’s Central Business District, the Mollie Walters house is listed individually on the National Register of Historic Places (1984).

The 52nd annual tour kicks off this Saturday! Get your tickets now at galvestonhistory.org/homestour.

Merchant tailor Adolph Nitsch and his wife, Lena, Merchant tailor Adolph Nitsch and his wife, Lena, built this Victorian house with an entry framed by a center double-gallery to replace their residence destroyed by Galveston’s Great Fire of 1885. Early German immigrants to the city, the couple had resided on the block since 1872. After Nitsche’s untimely death in the summer of 1900, Lena endured the 1900 Storm, which severely damaged the house. Lena oversaw repairs to the building that was later enlarged. The house is in the East End Historic District, listed in the National Register of Historic Places (1975).

The 1886 Adolph and Lena Nitsche House is just one of ten incredible historic residences being shown at this year's Galveston Historic Homes Tour. Head to www.galvestonhistory.org/homestour for a peek at all the homes, special events, and more. Discount tickets end Friday, April 24!
