Galveston Historical Foundation and Southwestern Paint Company

At the 1892 Bishop’s Palace, Galveston Historical Foundation knew we wanted the painted exterior surfaces to match the color captured in historic reference photos we studied. We conducted a paint analysis, which helped us realize the color was much darker than the cream color many had come to identify with the Bishop’s Palace. Honoring the design architect Nicholas Clayton envisioned would mean opting for a rich, deep red color. So that’s exactly what we did.When it was time to repaint those sections this year, we went back to the team who originally helped us pinpoint the red we needed: Southwestern Paint.We are so grateful to Jackie Gomez and the entire Southwestern Paint team. We love this local Galveston business, which has served the Houston region with expertise and honesty for more than 75 years.
