Plenty of new that needs to be a part of an old sh Plenty of new that needs to be a part of an old ship, and preparations for departure aren't just about the exterior. We've got a new galley on board, which required a new oven (brought on board with 19th-century methods!). Cleaning supplies are always a must, as are new mattresses for the crew.

We're gone for a few months on this voyage, and every bit of work is going into making sure our crew and officers are ready for the days ahead. Want to see how you can help? Head to galveston250.com/support to sponsor items, buy merchandise, or make a donation. Every single bit of it helps us make this incredible opportunity that much more finalized!

Trustees for St. John’s Methodist Church built the Trustees for St. John’s Methodist Church built the two-story Victorian house in 1899 for use as a parsonage. Pioneer Methodist minister Seth Ward resided there after the 1900 Storm when called to unite St. John’s and St. Paul’s Methodist churches as Central Methodist Church in 1901. Galveston realtor Zebulon Lewis White and his wife, Louise, purchased the property in 1911 and maintained ownership for the next six decades. Located in the Kempner Park neighborhood, the parsonage retains many original features, including impressive interior woodwork and decorative trim.

We're halfway through the 52nd Annual Galveston Hi We're halfway through the 52nd Annual Galveston Historic Homes Tour, and we want to hear your favorites so far! The first weekend had great crowds, beautiful weather, and so much great #GalvestonHistory. This coming weekend features our ten homes, including the 1892 Carlos and Jane Hickenlooper House.

Carlos and Jane Hickenlooper built this two-story Queen Anne house with a covered entry portico in 1892. Hickenlooper worked for the Thomas Goggan & Brother music company in San Antonio and relocated to Galveston to work as the firm’s secretary. The Hickenloopers’ daughter Lucy later achieved international fame as acclaimed concert pianist, Olga Samaroff. Located in the Silk Stocking Historic District, the 1991 efforts to save the Hickenlooper house led to the neighborhood's listing in the National Register of Historic Places (1996).
