When you visit @tremonthouse be sure to pay a visi When you visit @tremonthouse be sure to pay a visit to the Toujouse Bar.

Although the building that housed Mr. Toujouse’s saloon was demolished decades ago, his “first-class” bar was saved during the early 1960s. Purchased by a group of doctors, the exquisitely crafted bar and display cabinetry from the 1890s was relocated to a small building near the University of Texas Medical Branch, where it served as the focal point for the Seventh Street Saloon for several years. In 1979, the saloon was closed, and Toujouse’s bar was donated to us and placed in storage.

In 1982, GHF reached an agreement with George Mitchell to place the bar in the lobby of the Tremont House, where it remains on permanent loan today.

However, the partnership with The Tremont House goes deeper than just the bar. We're happy to announce the renewal of a strategic partnership with the hotel, reaffirming a shared commitment to advancing heritage tourism and sustaining the island’s most celebrated cultural events.

2026 is a milestone year for the Official Tall Shi 2026 is a milestone year for the Official Tall Ship of Texas. The 1877 ELISSA has moved out of the Galveston Historic Seaport to prepare for drydock. She goes out of the water two times in a five-year cycle as part of her requirements to be permitted to sail. These drydock stages are crucial for us to inspect, repair, and prepare, but when we're looking at something as significant as @sail4th250 and a summer of stops along the East Coast, it's even more important.

While ELISSA is away, our pricing will shift for seaport entry, including Ship To Shore. We continue to offer our Galveston Historic Harbor Tours on SEAGULL II and look forward to a few surprises this summer as we continue to share Galveston's maritime history here and abroad.

The devil is in the details, even when it's over t The devil is in the details, even when it's over three stories up. The team at @ludowici spare no effort to ensure that these wonderful creatures are not only beautiful but built to last.

These elements, destined for the top of the completed roof, will be placed later this year. Ludowici summed it up beautifully with "realizing there is incredible complexity, innovation, specialization, and challenge involved..."

This is more than just a roof, but a collaboration of talent and time to ensure Clayton's designs are fully realized for all of us to enjoy. We can't wait to see them up in the Galveston sky!
