1920 City National Bank Building was gifted to GHF by Ross Moody in early 2020. W.L. Moody originally built the bank to house his growing banking operations in Galveston. While used for many purposes since the 1960s, GHF will eventually convert it to offices and conference space. -
Bishop’s Palace Conservatory was constructed in 1892, so some restoration was due. With the help of friends and the Texas Historical Commission, new metal, a new copper roof, and fresh paint have restored this distinctive house feature. -
1826 K experienced a devastating fire, destroying nearly 2/3 of the house. GHF’s Revolving Fund acquired the property and completed a total restoration, saving another historic house and re-creating a beautiful home for the community. -
4_station1903 Star State Fire House #3, the first racially integrated firehouse in Galveston County, continues receiving stabilization work. GHF received the building in dire condition and has now stabilized the front façade and framed the exterior walls and roof. -
Galveston Historic Seaport/ELISSA is undergoing a rebuild of the museum’s interior to house the first attraction of the Galveston History Project. This interactive history experience focuses on the immigrant’s journey and arrival in Galveston more than 100 years ago. Projected opening date is now early summer 2021.
